The Richland County Education Association-Retired was formed to engage retired educators in supporting educational initiatives, promoting continuing professional growth, and service to the community, while preserving benefits for retired educators. Its members represent a broad range of educational expertise, service and job categories.

General membership meetings are held five (5) times annually, generally on Thursdays, at a location determined by the Executive Board. Meeting announcements will be placed in the quarterly newsletter and shared via Calling Post messages and email. Meetings feature guest speakers, special programs and a business session.
The Executive Board will begin a special recognition initiative this year. During each meeting, members from various teaching and certification areas will be
photographed as a group. Please be present when your group is scheduled.

SCEA-R works to ensure retired public school employees continue to get the best benefits possible during their retirement years. An annual conference is held for the membership to provide updates and strengthen networking among state affiliates. The SCEA is an affiliate of the largest professional association of educators in the country. As the leading advocate for the schools South Carolina students deserve, The SCEA works to promote quality public education and to support public school employees.
